Beaches in Cyprus that worth to visit

It is quite unfair to write only about the best, Blue-Flag beaches in Cyprus, because all beaches are unique for their nature, facilities, location, and water. Living in Cyprus for more than 10 years, we can honestly say that most are yet not discovered.

Traveling in Cyprus, no matter which area you will get — you will always find a place: beach, shore, the coastline where you can chill during the hot summer, or get warm near crystal clear water under caressing sun during the winter period.

Of course, when you leave near the beach, you have plenty of things to do and often prefer to go hiking in the mountains instead of spending the whole day on the beach, but anyway, swimming and sailing in the sea, it is part and parcel of our lives.

We prepared for you a list of beaches that you will definitely enjoy during summer, they are all located close to the limassol, so no matter how you will reach them, by car or by sailing boat, or by foot.

Of course there are much more, but if you stay in Limassol and have the ability to visit these beaches by car or by boat — you will truly enjoy and discover unique places and bring with you unforgettable memories and experience.

Marina Beach

Marina Beach is the artificial beach that is located right inside the Limassol marina and is the closest to the historical center of Limassol.

It is a quiet and well-protected beach that creates a perfect balance between green, blue, and the 'gold' of the sand, considered to be one of the cleanest along the city's coastline. The best time to visit is during the weekdays, on the weekend it is usually crowded with locals. This beach is perfect for families and companies to meet.

The infrastructure of this place is fantastic. You can choose sunbeds on the sand or on the grass that always gives you a feel of cleanness. There are showers for visitors and a big parking slot nearby. Another treasure of this place is Marina Beach Bar. It is a modern, luxury venue with an island feel, open from early morning, offering chilled drinks, light meals, and excellent options for lunch or dinner.

This beach guarantees ultimate relaxation and pleasure for every time of visiting it.

Columbia beach

This beach is located in the center of Limassol. Locals call this place for the last year 'Columbia'. It is a particularly impressive destination for any hour, day, or season.

The coastline is fairly narrow, but the facilities are amazing. There are showers and changing rooms, restaurants, bars, pool just a few steps from the sea, group sandpits in the grass area. The beach attendants are more than happy to serve snacks or chilled drinks from the gastronomic bar or will provide you with brunch and dinner options. During the summer in this area, a lot of turtles are swimming very close to humans, if you like snorkeling — it's a safe and beautiful place for it.

Right next to the Columbia beach, there are two sailing clubs. Local regattas often take place in front of this beach, so that you can observe the races from the best location.

Governor's Beach

At the Eastern end of Limassol, is located one of the most special coasts of Cyprus. Governor's Beach, awarded with Blue-Flag. This area has been a popular leisure destination for decades, and its eastern bay, equipped with modern facilities. Considered as one of Limassol's famous destinations for dining or a swim. Lots of sailing boats are used to anchor here.

The beach bar that operates there serves chilling drinks and snacks, while the Kalymnos restaurant on top of the cliff, above the beach offers meals with panoramic views of the area.

The white rocks create large, white platforms above and beside the water, constitute a unique spectacle that makes the coast particularly interesting. Beyond the two large, sandy bay under the rock of Kalymnos Restaurant, there are many smaller coves, where you can enjoy the feeling of a little "private" beach. The sunset and sunrise on this beach are amazing with its white cliffs and crystal clear blue sea creating picturesque images.

Kourion beach

If you love waves, it's a must-visit place. The Kourion beach is about 2 km long, and the strong west wind is never-ending here. In this area, you can find lots of restaurants with different facilities: sunbeds, umbrellas, changing rooms, etc. The bay is surrounded by one side with a massive promontory. Overlooking of this bay is possible by visiting the archaeological site of the ancient Greco-Roman amphitheater of Kourion that is located right above the beach. The west wind in this bay is very strong, and makes it difficult to reach the beach from the sea, but if you travel with your car — it’s that place that is definitely worth to see.

This beach also attracts those who love surfing, who may seize the opportunity to do their favorite sport when the weather allows it. So, this large coast in the western Limassol can leave everyone satisfied, no matter their taste or age.

Pissouri beach

Pissouri Bay is well protected bay and the tourist resort of the Pissouri village, located about 29 nm west of Lemesos. It is about 2 km long coast with colorful pebbles in a variety of sizes and colors, as well as fine sand in certain areas, awarded as Blue-Flag beach. The water is suitable both for swimming and water sports, lots of sailing boats are coming here for anchoring and relaxation. It is a relatively safe coastline, even though it gets deep very quickly. It usually has waves of medium height, especially out in the open water, which makes it ideal for surfing and other activities in the water. On the west side, there are restaurants and kiosks, as well as sunbed rental services.

The Pissouri bay gives different opportunities to cover all kinds of preferences. Whether someone prefers a more organized beach, or is looking for something more isolated and serene, or is looking for action, hiking or to relax, there is something to suit everyone. At the eastern and western end of the bay, there are high-rise cliffs that lead down to the beach and create smaller coves, which one can reach by climbing over the rocks. These coves are a preferred area for nudist bathers. The hotel's beach bar is available to anyone who wants to enjoy refreshing drinks and the restaurants and cafés facing the beach are great options for moments with seaview.
